ORCA is a livecoding sequencer built originally by HundredRabbits

This is ORCA on a Game Boy you can hold. All 26 lettered operators are ported one-to-one from the original C implementation: same port model, same locking rules, same base-36 arithmetic. What changed is everything around the language — a 32×16 grid, six buttons instead of a keyboard, and : driving the DMG's own sound chip instead of a MIDI.

What's in it

• The full operator set — all 26 letters plus bang, comment and note
• Ports are drawn on the grid: an operator's output shows in reverse video, and the cells it is still waiting on are marked, so you can see what a program wants before you type it
• 36 instrument slots with their own editor page — channel, volume, panning, envelope, duty or waveform, pitch slide, vibrato, transpose, note length
• All four DMG voices: two pulse, wave and noise. Pitch slide on every tonal channel for kicks; the hardware sweep on pulse A for sirens; a noise shape for drums
• Select, copy, cut and paste rectangles of pattern
• Patterns and all 36 instruments save to battery-backed cartridge SRAM

On the instrument page: A auditions the sound, B goes back, SELECT+A/B saves and loads everything.

Notes

64 KB ROM, MBC5 with battery-backed save. Runs on real DMG hardware and on any Game Boy emulator. Left/right panning is a headphone effect — the console's built-in speaker sums both outputs.
